DOE Invests in Underserved Research Facilities

Energy Department partners with 44 institutions to expand research capacity.

The Department of Energy announced that they are investing $37 million into underrepresented research facilities across the country.

The Office of Science keeps a portfolio of all the research institutions that the Energy Department partners with, and they collected a shortlist of 44 institutions, usually minority-serving institutions and emerging research institutions, to partner with through this funding. This initiative is called the Funding for Accelerated, Inclusive Research (FAIR), which will be used to expand the resources these 44 institutions need to grow their operations.

“To reach our scientific goals, we need all voices represented at the table, including those who have been historically excluded from critical scientific conversations,” said Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm. “FAIR is an essential capacity-building initiative that will broaden the impact of DOE and the Office of Science in tackling critical and pressing scientific questions and challenges.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For discernment for Secretary Granholm as she oversees the awarding of funding to underserved research facilities.
  • For U.S. energy officials to seek God’s wisdom in their evaluations of the nation’s energy market and needs.
